Physiotherapy Treatment Options in Eastbourne
There is no single treatment that is right for every problem. At DC Physiotherapy, treatment is based on your assessment, your symptoms and what you want to get back to doing.
Depending on what we find, your treatment may include a combination of exercise rehabilitation, manual therapy, massage, acupuncture or dry needling, alongside advice to help you understand and manage your problem.
Exercise Rehabilitation
Exercise is an important part of rehabilitation for many muscle and joint problems.
Your physiotherapist can provide exercises specifically chosen around your current strength, movement and goals. These might be aimed at improving strength, restoring movement or gradually increasing your ability to tolerate everyday activities, work or sport.
Exercises are designed to be completed independently between appointments and can be progressed as you improve. You don't need access to specialist gym equipment — we'll make sure your programme is practical to complete at home.
Manual Therapy
Manual therapy refers to hands-on treatment techniques such as joint mobilisation and soft-tissue treatment.
It may be used to help manage pain or stiffness and improve movement, particularly during the earlier stages of treatment.
Where appropriate, manual therapy is usually combined with advice and exercise rather than being used on its own. This allows treatment to address how you are feeling now while also working towards improving your movement, strength and function over time.
Sports Massage
Sports massage appointments are available as a standalone service as well as being used alongside physiotherapy treatment where appropriate.
Massage may be useful if you're dealing with muscular tightness or soreness, recovering from training or simply looking for some hands-on treatment between periods of exercise or sport.
You don't need to be a competitive athlete to book sports massage. Appointments are suitable for recreational athletes, gym users and anyone experiencing muscular tightness associated with an active lifestyle.
Acupuncture & Dry Needling
Acupuncture and dry needling are needle-based treatments that may be used alongside physiotherapy to help manage pain and muscular symptoms.
Fine, sterile needles are placed into selected areas depending on your symptoms and the findings from your assessment.
These techniques are not appropriate or necessary for everyone. If acupuncture or dry needling may be useful as part of your treatment, your physiotherapist can discuss this with you during your appointment.
