Sports Injury Physiotherapy in Eastbourne

An injury doesn't need to end your season or stop you doing the sport you enjoy.

Whether you're competing seriously, playing five-a-side once a week or simply trying to get back to running without pain, the important question is usually the same:

What do I need to do to get back?

At DC Physiotherapy, we assess and rehabilitate sports injuries for recreational athletes through to people competing at a high level.

Sports Injuries We Treat

We see injuries from running, football, rugby, tennis, cycling, golf, gym training and many other sports.

Common problems include:

  • Muscle strains

  • Ankle sprains

  • Tendon injuries

  • Running-related pain

  • Knee injuries

  • Shoulder injuries

  • Overuse problems

  • Joint and muscle pain

  • Recurring injuries that keep returning when training increases

From Injury to Return to Sport

Your appointment starts with understanding the injury, but also understanding what you need your body to do.

Getting somebody back to running is different from getting somebody back to football. Returning to heavy gym training places different demands on the body again.

Your physiotherapist will assess the relevant movement, strength and function before explaining what appears to be contributing to the problem.

Treatment may initially include manual therapy, massage, advice and temporary changes to training where appropriate.

From there, rehabilitation becomes increasingly important.

Exercises will be progressed to rebuild strength and tolerance before gradually introducing the demands of your sport.

The aim is not simply to reach the point where the injury no longer hurts in the treatment room. We want you to be able to tolerate what your sport actually asks of you.

Physiotherapists Who Understand Sport

Our physiotherapists have experience working within football environments as well as treating athletes from a wide range of sports.

That experience helps us look beyond the injury itself and consider the demands you'll need to meet when returning to training and competition.
